Long Time!

Hey everyone i’ve been horrible and not updated in forever! Also havent been keeping in touch…i hope everyone n their Fur Babies are doing well!!!
Alpha is doing wonderful we have had a bit of a crazy few months! We forget Alpha is even missing a leg most days! There is nothing he can not do! Hes still the fastest pup at the park 🙂 We took a road trip from SC to WI he did great in the car (i was concerned about his balance but he was great) He mastered stairs while we were visiting! Its still sad he cant scratch his head but hes good at letting us know when he needs some lovin! His scar has healed up beautifully! even with his super short hair! Next week we will be headin home to NY to visit family Hopefully Alpha and Kaylee will get to play in some snow with all there Cousins/Aunts ! Chloe a very chubby black lab, Bella another Puggle (like kaylee just FAT!), Irie a long haired weiner dog..and many more! ‘
Dec 13rd was Alphas 4month Ampuversary …Looking forward to many more Lucky Friday the 13rd!

Welcome Home Alpha

we just got alpha home!!! He was so excited to see us! He dragged my husband out the vets office!!! He is incredible!
We got the lap results back..
it is a chondrosarcoma – grade 1.. Soft tissue Amputation is usually a cure for it!!!
I am still a lil concerned because he is so young…but we r not fighting we r preventing 🙂
Short blog kinda fighting a million different emotions right now!!!

My Little Brother Alpha is Doin Great

Uncle Hansche called this mornin! to say good mornin to his favorite puggle 🙂 me! My Brother is doin great! He said all his vitals r strong, he also said he was stoned what ever that means!! Mama says hes high as a kite on pain meds so hes not walkin around to much. Alphas a big baby when it comes to meds, sensitive lil brother! But mama says he needs to rest anyway so its good hes taken it easy!….We could go visit him today but daddy is complaining mamas jeeps gettin bad gas milage so they wont drive me 🙁 BUT i get my brother back tomoro!! I’M SO EXCITED I JUMPED ALL OVER MAMA THIS MORNING AND LICKED HER TO DEATH TO TELL HER HOW EXCITED I AM!! i miss my lil brother even though hes a big pain in the butt and steals all my toys i still wove him!
Thank you guys for tellin mama everything was gonna be ok!

Plan of Attack!

Just finished talking to our vet…. He is all about us starting supplements and herbal supplements that help with cancer if anyone as any recommendations?!?
Our Vet and us both agree that amputation will be the best choice of action, so as long as the Oncologist agrees, when we meet with her one monday! Tuesday Alpha will go in for his surgery to remove that spare leg thats slowin my man down! They will do a chest xray to rule out that anything has spread to his lungs. (WHICH IT HAS NOT! because hes going to live forever!) after that is ruled out he will go thru surgery as planned. They will then biopsy the tumor to completely rule out Bone Cancer, as of right now they have no reason to think it is anything more then Soft tissue! Once Bone is ruled out My Baby will be good as new and off to hunt those pesky squirrels! If it is Bone then you all no what that means 🙁
I have moved to chanting “it is soft tissue it is soft tissue!! it is not bone cancer it is not bone cancer!!!” anything to get that positive energy out there!!!

About My Blue Man

Alpha Monster was born Oct 8, 2010. Unfortunately the breeder we got him from was HORRIBLE! His parents are both from Thailand, Alphas mother has been extremely over bred 🙁 which is the reason for his soft ears and now the cause of his health issues! We took Alpha home at 6 weeks because all of his brothers and sisters were sold and in their new homes as early as 4 weeks :-/!! Alpha was raised and taught all the puppy rules by is big sister Kaylee a 16lb Puggle. They might be an odd couples but they r best buds!
Alpha is definitely one of a kind! He has numerous quirks, and is the sweetest little monster you will ever meet! He loves to run and rough-house with other puppies and people! He also loves to sunbath and cuddle under blankies!!
Me and my Husband Joey went to Mexico for a friends wedding the end of June, we board Alpha at his Trainers K9 Companions (they are amazing) when we got him back a week later we noticed he was leanin on us alot kind of what rotties do. We figured he just missed us so we didnt think much of it. Maybe a week later we noticed him really favoring his right back leg, but hes such a maniac always running and jumping, once again we thought nothing of it he probably just landed funny or stepped on something. Then we started our journey across the country. My husband is in the Marine Corp so we moved from Southern California to Beaufort South Carolina. After resting Alphas leg for a week being stuck in the back of a jeep we figured he’d be all better when we arrived. The following weeks his limp seemed to stay the same he ran around and it didnt seem to bother him other then the limp. Then what seemed like over night his left rear knee swell up the size of an egg!! so we brought him to the vet the very next day. (we lucked out our vet from Cali who has known both kaylee and alpha since day one, just so happened to move to Columbia SC) From what we told him he figured it was a soft tissue injury maybe a very small simple fracture so he gave us some anti inflammatory and a sedative to relax him and help him heal. Giving that a try for 2 weeks with lil to NO improvement we brought him back to Dr Hansche, did some X-rays and it didnt look good a cloudy mass was pushing the head of his fibula away from the tibia. He did warn us if Alpha was a rottie or shepard hed say it was cancer but because Thai Ridgebacks dont have any health problem he wanted to do a biopsy.. So Here we are…..Yesterday we got the call our worst nightmare… Alpha has what looks to be a soft tissue Sarcoma, we would need a larger sample to biopsy to rule out bone cancer. We have an appointment with an oncologist (Dr Rissetto in Charleston SC) Monday at 4pm…..
I am so thankful that i stumbled across this site, Everyone has been so warm, supportive, and positive!! We have alot of options and life changing decisions to make! I feel like we r racing the clock now Alpha went from 100% perfectly healthy to having a baseball sized tumor on the side of his knee IN 2 MONTHS! My husband is also scheduled to go on a mini deployment to Arizona Sept 3rd- Nov 4th so not to sound like a baby but i might be left alone during alphas surgery!
